Travel to Longyearbyen
Please book your travel as SOON as possible!
Be certain to book your flight BEFORE you register for the conference.
Airline capacity is limited and prices normally increase when
the number of seats decreases.
SAS has 2 departures (from Oslo) on Sunday February 5th., at 0955 in the morning
and at 2135 in the evening. Consider staying in Oslo from Saturday to Sunday.
You may also decide to arrive on Friday, February 3rd. There will
be a "Polar Jazz" festival that weekend.
SAS and Norwegian flies on February 3rd., February 10th. and on Monday
February 13th.
The conference will end Friday morning, you may book your return flight
on Friday, February 10th, (1230 and 1310 departures)
Please note that Norwegian is a low price carrier and that it may be
advantageous to split your flight journey into two separate tickets.
As soon as you have fixed your flights, please inform the conference
via email to: dd24@uib.no, in order for us to reserve your hotel accommodation.
UPDATE: There is an airport shuttle that transports people to and from Svalbard airport to destinations in the city that works in tandem with the airlines' arrival and departure schedule. Therefore, conference participants can avail that service to reach their accommodations. We have been advised that hotel check-in will not be a problem for the registered participants.
